Quick fixes
- Quit and reopen the app. Right-click its taskbar icon and choose Quit, not just close the window.
- Close other apps that might be using the camera or microphone.
- Update the app to the latest version.
Choose the right devices in the app
- Teams: select … > Settings > Devices, then choose your speaker, microphone and camera. Select Make a test call to check them.
- Zoom: select Settings > Audio and Settings > Video, choose your devices, and use Test speaker and Test mic.
Check Windows permissions: make sure Let desktop apps access your camera and Let desktop apps access your microphone are on (articles 42 and 44).
Using Teams or Zoom in a browser? Select the padlock icon in the address bar and set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
Poor call quality
- Echo: use headphones, or lower your speaker volume.
- Choppy video or sound: move closer to your Wi-Fi router, use a cable, or pause large downloads and cloud syncing during calls.
