Quick checks
- Turn the printer off and on, and check it has paper and ink with no error lights.
- Check both are on the same network. The computer and printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
- Restart the computer and the router.
Add the printer
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device and choose the printer.
- Not listed? Select Add manually and add it by its IP address, which is shown on the printer's network settings or printed status page.
- Install the printer maker's app or driver from their website: HP Smart, Brother iPrint&Scan, Canon or Epson.
Print jobs stuck
- Open the printer in Printers & scanners and select Open print queue, then cancel all documents.
- Press Windows + R, type
services.msc, find Print Spooler, right-click it and select Restart. - Run Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Printer.
Printing to the wrong printer? In Printers & scanners, turn off Let Windows manage my default printer, then select your printer and choose Set as default.
