Battery health is how much charge the battery holds compared with when it was new. Every battery is tested during refurbishment, and any swollen or unsafe battery is removed. Batteries are guaranteed for 12 months from the purchase date.
| Device | Grade | Battery health |
|---|---|---|
| Laptops | Grade A | 80% or higher |
| Laptops | Grade B (Value+) | 50% to 79% |
| Phones and Tablets | All grades | 80% or higher. Batteries below this are replaced during refurbishment. |
We can't quote the exact battery health of an individual unit before purchase, because we sell high volumes of each model.
How long a charge lasts depends on screen brightness, the apps you run and your power settings. A heavy workload can drain even a new battery in a few hours. A phone or iPad battery should comfortably last a normal day.
Check your battery health: run a Windows battery report. See Battery drains fast or won't charge: run a battery report. Compare "Full charge capacity" with "Design capacity". On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Battery > Battery Health.
Make your battery last longer
- Unplug the charger once the battery is full, rather than leaving it plugged in all the time.
- Many business laptops (Dell, HP, Lenovo) let you set a charge limit in the BIOS or the maker's app. An 80% limit suits a laptop that stays on a desk.
