First check your model has a touchscreen: touch models say "Touch" in the product title.
Quick fixes
- Restart the computer.
- Clean the screen with a soft, dry microfibre cloth.
- Unplug the charger and test again. Some chargers cause erratic or "ghost" touches.
- Remove a screen protector if one has been added, and test.
Turn the touchscreen back on
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices and find HID-compliant touch screen.
- If it has a down-arrow icon, right-click it and select Enable device.
- If it's already enabled, right-click and select Uninstall device, then restart.
Touches land in the wrong place
- Search for Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
- Select Reset if it's available, or Calibrate and follow the prompts.
